Whether you decided to start taking ballet lessons because of long-held dreams or because you saw an amazing performance at a dance competition, as a new student, you probably have a lot of questions. Here are the answers to your most common concerns surrounding your first ballet lesson, as we Rockettes want you to be an informed and confident ballet newbie: How will I spend my ballet class time? The bulk of courses have a fixed structure. This means you may take your ballet practice almost anywhere and yet expect to do the same sequence of steps. The ballet barre is where a ballet class generally begins. Working up from slower, smaller, or easier exercises is a natural progression. Your class will now transition away from the barre to begin center work. During this portion of ballet class, students will learn and practice numerous new steps, spin
